Azure Government delivers a dedicated cloud enabling government agencies and organizations to transform mission-critical workloads to the cloud.
Microsoft Azure Government uses the same underlying technologies as global Azure, which includes the core components of Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS). Both Azure and Azure Government have the same comprehensive security controls in place, as well as the same Microsoft commitment on the safeguarding of customer data. Whereas both cloud environments are assessed and authorized at the FedRAMP High impact level.
Microsoft Azure Government Cloud is FedRAMP Authorized at Level High and is able to handle data that is subject to certain government regulations and requirements, such as NIST800.171 (DIB), ITAR, IRS 1075, DoD L4, and CJIS. To provide you with the highest level of security and compliance, the Azure Government uses physically isolated data centers and networks (located in the U.S. only). MCCi underwent a strict validation of eligibility for deploying in the Azure Government Cloud.
